What do you do when you believe in God, follow Jesus, go to church, read your Bible, worship, and serve, but still feel disconnected from God? In Connect With God, guest speaker Reece Whitehead closes out our C3 series by looking at three “broken soundtracks” that can quietly affect our relationship with God: shame, doubt, and disappointment. Through the stories of Peter, Thomas, and Mary Magdalene after the resurrection of Jesus, we see three very different struggles and the same response from Jesus. Peter’s shame makes him hide, but Jesus comes searching. Thomas’ doubt causes him to pull away, but Jesus draws near. Mary’s disappointment makes her lose sight of God, but Jesus calls her by name. This message explores what the Bible says about feeling distant from God, dealing with shame and failure, wrestling honestly with doubt, and trusting God when life doesn’t go the way you expected.
